Sorry For Not Updating!

I have been very busy! But I will update you with some pictures and such now :) I'll start off by talking about the best thing I've seen since I've last updated. Conny, Eve, and I took the train to Cologne to go shopping and on the train they kept saying "You can't get lost in Cologne, you can always get to the dome which is right next to the train station." So, when we got off the train I expected to see a dome...not "The Dom". I had no clue it even existed until we left the train station and *bam!* there it was. And I must say it was one of the most amazing things I have seen in my entire life. I tried googling it to find a decent picture to put on here, but none of the pictures come close to doing it justice. My jaw literally dropped when I saw it. Above there is a picture of Eve and I in front of it and of Conny and I in front of it. You really don't see too much of the church though. It is HUGE! And so beautiful! I don't have too much time right now, but here's what each of the pictures are...
1. Baby Fritz and I :) When I was on holiday a few weeks ago
2. Conny and I at a club in Kassel
3. At a Butterfly Garden in Erfurt
4. On my laptop
5. Conny and I in front of the Dom
6. Eve and I in front of the Dom
7. Conny and I right before we went out clubbing

More pictures and updates to come soon!

What I'm doing this weekend...
Saturday: I'm going to Frankfurt and hanging out with Dan Hogan (a singer here in Germany)
Sunday: In the morning I'm going to Hannover to the sealife park (or the zoo, if it's sunny) and then I'm going to Hamburg in the afternoon :)

Much love!
I miss you all immensely!

For those of you who keep wanting to know what everyone looks like...
Top Picture (Florian) I couldn't find a more updated picture on his myspace page, this is from about a year ago, he now has blonde hair & no sunglasses. lol.

Bottom Picture (From Top To Bottom : Kristy, Antje, ...I can't remember his name...ooops!) Kristy is the one I'm usually hanging out with, Antje and her boyfriend Marcos went to dinner with me the other night, and their brother (why can't I remember his name??) came over Saturday night after we got back from the city. Antje dances in a group like the Pussycat Dolls and Kristy is doing her apprenticeship in business offices in the tower we went to the other day in they city :) The brother has an adorable chihuahua name Ooshi and Antje has a mini cairn terrier named Lexy (who loves me :))

Ok, ok. I know I've been really bad about posting...so here's a recap of my last few days.
Saturday
Kristy and I went and picked Florian up from his house and then drove the the city. It was very windy and was snowing...brrr!! The snow wasn't really sticking, but it sure was annoying when it hit you in the face. We walked around the mall for a bit and then we and got some coffee. Carmel Macchiatos...mmmm! We also bought some cookies and muffins. From there we went to a huge book store and then went to the top of a huge tower to look over the city...very cold!! And we discovered Florian is afraid of lifts (elevators). lol. It was quite entertaining. After the tower we went to a French art exhibition and then to sushi! I was very excited that they had California rolls in Germany :) After that we went to H&M and walked around for awhile before stopping by the market so Florian could buy stuff to make for lunch on Sunday. We then were too lazy to go out clubbing, so we went to bed and got some sleep. :)

Sunday
Kristy had to go to her grandmother's for lunch, so Florian came over to make me lunch. Since he's a vegetarian he made some Malaysian noodle thing, with rice noodles, onions, lemon grass, etc. and a salad, which was extremely good. He also made cocktails with coke and kumquats and limes and such...and some kind of alcohol, but I can't read German very well, so I don't know what it was. All I know is that it tasted good. Above is the recipe for the noodle thing, if you can decipher it, you should make it :) It was quite good. That night Antje and Marcos came over and we went out to Mexican food...and I was able to order without any help!! lol :) It was quite amazing!

Monday
I just lounged around all day since everyone was working. In the evening some people came over for dinner and we talked about politics and such. Nothing too out of the ordinary.

Tuesday
I went shopping in town to day by myself and survived!! I was able to communicate enough in German to buy a new purse, a planner, a birthday gift and card, a pen, a notebook, candy, and kinder eggs (for Ashley). I was quite impressed with myself. More people came over for dinner and the people who I hadn't met yet bought me an English-German translator. lol. Tomorrow I'm going to the fitness center and then to ice cream and then at 11pm Miriam and I are going to the disko where we will be until 7am...crazy huh?! I better get some zzz's in tonight!!

I hope this helped make up for the lack of updates.

I love you all!!

What I did yesterday & what I'm going to do today

Ok, so last night after I went to dinner with Hartmut and his family (the family I'm staying with on holiday). Christy took me out to a bar to meet some of her friends (Steven, Phillip, Manu, Thadeus, and I'm trying to remember the other 2's names...sorry if you're reading this!) So, we hung out there for a few hours and then decided to go to McDonalds. We also stopped by a club, but there weren't many people because it's a small town, so tonight we're going to one of the bigger cities. I'm about to leave with Christy again and we're going to go shopping and then going to celebrate Manu's birthday bowling and go to a club. ttyl!

I Went For A Walk This Morning...

What They Call Me...

For some reasons people in Germany have a hard time saying my name. They always ask if they can shorten it and I really don't mind, so I let them. I think some of the names are random, so I decided to compile a list of what I've been called so far. The funny thing is they're all names I'm NEVER called back home.

-Lindy
-Lizzy
-Lee
-Leeza
-Lily

I'm sure there will be plenty more later...I'll add them as I hear them :)

Ronald Reagan/Portions/Racist

I'm really behind on posting, so every time I get a chance I'll write a short blog about something until I catch up :) So it's not like I'm ignoring you guys. One thing I noticed is that Germans tend to be quite racist. My new family was talking about how Obama was a bad choice for president because he's black and they also make quite the jokes about the Muslims. They don't like most American politicians in general...butttt they LOVE Ronald Reagan. I can't even tell you how much they talk about him and how many books they have on him. Here they believe that Reagan is the only reason Germany was reunified.

Ohhh! & you always hear that Europeans eat smaller portions...LIES!! lol. I can't believe how much more they eat than me. They always tell me to eat more even after I've had several servings. They pretty much eat however much they're given. They never have leftovers.

Anywayyy, I'm having tons of fun and can't wait to go to Switzerland on Friday for a week...and to get my new phone in the mail (I decided on the t-mobile g1...the google phone)...and for my care package!! Funfetti cake...mmmm...

Sitting At The Airport

...maybe I should learn how to say that in German...

Anyway...I'm at the airport...bored. Everyone is really chatty. Irish people just seem to be extremely nice people. lol. The Americans on the other hand...they're not quite as nice. No offense. My plane is green and white & green is one of my favorite colors so that must be a good sign right? I'm thinking so. I should be able to check this in Dublin during my layover, as well. Maybe I'll write up a really long, great, interesting blog while on the plane and I can post it during my layover...sounds like a plan. :) BTW I think it's time we got some pictures on this blog!

Trying To Get On German Time

I'm flying out of SFO today and get to Berlin tomorrow afternoon. I'm trying to skip the whole jet-lag thing...I don't know how much this is going to help, but I'm trying. I ordered one of the new google phones today, but since they don't come out until the 2nd (when it's supposed to be delivered to my new house) I won't get it until then. Butttt my "new family" was nice enough to get me a phone and german sim card that I can use before I get my new phone. I still have some packing to do and have almost exactly 12 hours before my plane takes off. I don't know if it's really hit me yet. I keep joking that it'll hit me when I'm on the plane and I'll be crying my eyes out...I feel bad for the person who has to sit next to me. Oh well...lol. Much love to you all! I will speak to you all soon.

1 More Day!

I'm leaving tomorrow!! I'm almost completely packed and ready to go :) I don't know what else to say for today, but I haven't written anything in a few days. Going away party tonight...:) how exciting! I'm still looking at cell phones online since I can't get a new phone until I'm physically there. I really like this phone, but if I wait until February 2nd I can get this one. We'll see...

5 Days

5 days and my room is getting closer to being packed. I still have to work on my closet, which will probably be harder than my room. Anyway...several people have asked how they can get a hold of me while I'm gone, so I am posting my contact info below...

Skype: lindsey.evans89
E-mail: lindsey.evans89@yahoo.de
MSN: zzbug89
Mailing Address: e-mail me for it :)
Phone Number: once again, e-mail me...it's pretty much pointless unless you live in Germany to have it

6 Days

There are 6 days until I leave for Germany...6! I'm starting to worry about not being able to see everyone before I go and about my shoes. Yes, my shoes. I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to pack many in my bag :/ I'm actually starting to consider taking out some of my clothing to fit a couple more pairs. Annnnd jackets. Jackets take up wayyyy too much space, but considering it's below freezing and snowy in Germany I guess I need to bring them. I'm flying out of SFO on Wednesday, so hopefully I'll see you all before then. If you haven't heard from me in awhile it's because I'm busy not because I don't want to see you. So shoot me a message. I just woke up and have to babysit Noah today meaning I don't think much packing will be accomplished today. Does anyone want to pack for me? It would be very wonderful of you. :) Anyway...this is pointless and I'll write more later.

xoxo Lindsey
